Edible Oil
Process steps for decolorization and improved final-product appearance.
Home / Applications / Food And Oil
Application Area
Removal of color bodies, unwanted odors and trace impurities in edible-oil, beverage and food processes.
Role Of Activated Carbon
Powdered activated carbon is mixed with the liquid product under controlled conditions to adsorb color-forming organics and unwanted odor compounds, then separated from the process by filtration.
The suitable carbon type and dose are established through laboratory trials based on viscosity, temperature, initial color and target quality. All food-contact regulations and process requirements must be verified separately by the user.
Applications
Process steps for decolorization and improved final-product appearance.
Reduction of unwanted color and odor in syrup and base streams.
Controlled purification of liquid or dissolved raw materials.
Suitable Form
A fixed-bed option for continuous column processes and final polishing stages.

FAQs
It adsorbs colour pigments, odour compounds and unwanted organic residues, improving colour and sensory quality; powdered form is usually dosed.
Any processing aid in contact with food must minimise impurity risk. Chemical-free steam activation, max. 3% ash and flame-free indirect heating provide that purity.
Depending on decolourisation demand, AKARBON 900 (methylene blue >150 mg/g) or AKARBON 1000 (>250 mg/g); confirm with our technical team.
