Granular Activated Carbon

High-porosity granular activated carbon made from 100% hazelnut shells, produced at any particle size in the 0–10 mm range.

Product

The standard media of fixed-bed filters.

Granular activated carbon (GAC) is the core adsorbent of fixed-bed filter systems. After carbonisation and activation, the natural cell structure of the hazelnut shell becomes a network of macro, meso and micro pores — contaminants are trapped deep inside this network.

In our indirectly heated stainless steel kiln the flame never touches the product; there is no brick lining, so no mineral contamination. Every batch is tested to ASTM standards in our own laboratory before shipping.

Water Treatment

Removal of taste, odour, chlorine and organic contaminants from drinking and process water in fixed-bed filters.

Gas Treatment

Continuous adsorption of VOCs and odours in filter cartridges and granular packed beds.

Food & Oil

Removal of colour, odour and unwanted compounds from edible-oil and food processes in column systems.

Cosmetics

Reduction of colour, odour and impurities in cosmetic ingredients and process water.

Cat Litter

A high-adsorption granular additive that supports odour and moisture control in cat-litter blends.

Sugar Refining

Decolourisation, clarification and purification of sugar syrups in continuous columns.

FAQ

About Granular Activated Carbon

What is granular activated carbon?

Granular activated carbon (GAC) consists of porous carbon particles 0.2–10 mm in size. It is used in fixed-bed filters, where contaminants are captured as water or gas flows through the granules.

Where is it used?

It is used in water treatment, gas treatment, food and oil processes, cosmetic-ingredient purification, odour and moisture control in cat litter, and sugar refining.

Which particle sizes are available?

Our crushing and sieving line produces the required size distribution within 0–10 mm, including standard ranges such as 0.5–2.5 mm, 1–3 mm and 2–4 mm.

Let's choose the right granule size for your project.
